Welcome to Kindergarten!!

Kindergarten 2018-2019  Canyon Pointe Elementary

Welcome to Mrs. Sedgwick's Kindergarten Class!

Hello!  I am SO excited to be your child’s Kindergarten teacher this year.  This will be my 3rd year teaching Kinder and I just absolutely LOVE it.  I taught Kindergarten last year at Canyon Pointe and the previous year at Creekview.

I graduated from Texas A&M University in 1999.  I worked for several years before staying home with my three kids for 12 years.  Teaching was always something I wanted to do and feel very blessed to be able to teach at Canyon Pointe Elementary.

My husband, Tim, and I live in Villages of Northpointe with our three kids, Cole, Avery, and Bailey. They are 14, 11, and 9.

I look forward to a fabulous year with you and your child.  I believe parent communication is key and I am always available to discuss your child’s progress during this amazing first year in school!!

If you haven't done so already, please subscribe to this website to receive any updates and stay connected with the latest communication. There is a red folder that will come home every day with your child and should be checked, signed by a parent, and then returned each day.

Things your child may bring beginning the first day of school:

*A Sport-top water bottle (with water only please)

*A healthy snack: goldfish, pretzels, cheez-its, fruit, crackers, granola bars

*A change of clothes, labeled, in a ziplock bag (just in case!)

This site will be updated as I receive new information for the school year, so make sure to visit weekly. More information will be provided as soon as possible through daily folders, emails, and/or Wednesday folders. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me by email.

Valentine's Party Exchange

Dear Parents,

Prior to our Valentine’s Day Party we will be exchanging Valentines for students to open during the party.  Your child will need to bring a card for each student in our class.  Attached you will find a class list.  Here are some tips to get you started:

  • Valentines may be store-bought or homemade.
  • Allow your child to sign the cards.  It is not as neat as grown-up writing, but it means more to your child’s classmates.  Be sure to allow time for this task. Some children are unable to complete them in one day.
  • Label the envelope clearly.  Your child may write the name of the classmate or cut the name off the list and glue or tape it on the envelope.
  • If you do write the name please write them like we do: uppercase letter first and the rest lowercase- Jane, not JANE.  This will make it easier for your child to deliver it to the correct mailbox.

Please send the Valentine cards to school on or before Monday, February 11th. Thank you for your help with this project.

Change in Specials

Starting Monday, we will have a slight change in our specials.  We will no longer go to both everyday.  We will alternate between Art/Music and P.E.  We will go to both on Fridays still.  Please see specials schedule to see where we will be going.  Starting on Monday, February 28th, it will be week 3.

Lost and Found

Our lost and found is filling up with jackets and other miscellaneous items.
If you know your child is missing a jacket or anything else, I encourage you to  stop by sometime to take a look.  With the cold weather, we want to make sure our kiddos have their jackets, gloves, and hats.
Also, make sure you label everything! This helps us to return items as soon as they get lost.
Thank you!

100th day shirts

The 100th day of school will be on Monday, February 4th.  We are asking that your child decorate a shirt with a 100 items on it.  You can paint 100 items on, pin them on, glue them on, or sew them on.  There are no limits to how creative you can get.  To help you get some ideas, google image of 100th day of school shirts.  Please have your child wear their shirt to school on Monday, February 4th - 100th day of school.
