We need your HELP!

As a class we discussed setting goals for the New Year.  One of our students said his goal was to collect 1,000 bottle caps for his Cub Scout troop.  As he explained why and who it would help, our class decided to ask the entire school to donate.  Sooooo.....

In partnership with National Oilwell Varco, Cub Scout Pack 1148 is collecting plastic bottle caps of any kind.  For every 1,000 bottle caps, a child at local hospitals will receive a LIFE saving kidney dialysis treatment.

Please bring your PLASTIC bottle caps to school and put them into the collection box on the cafeteria stage.

September 25th Weekly Update

Week of September 25-29

2nd Grade families,

I hope you are enjoying your weekend! I know that I am ready for some cooler weather!!!!!

Here is an insight to what is going on this week in our classroom.

Reading - We are working on using context clues when we come across a word we don’t know. Context + Clues = Clarity

Writing - We will pick one of the small moments we have been brainstorming, and we will take it through the writing process.   We will focus on showing our emotions instead of just telling them.  For example, instead of just saying I was happy. I could say, my heart was about to explode as I ran down the field into the end zone.

Math - We continuing to study place value up to the thousands place.  We will learn about the five ways a number can be written.  They are: model form, standard form, expanded form, place value form, and written or number form.   Anchor chart picture to come later this week, so you have an example.

Practice math facts at home!  The second practice test will come home in your student’s Wednesday folder.  It is not for a grade at this until the 2nd nine weeks.  There was improvement from last weeks in the amount of problems completed. The good news is that the only problems the students are missing are the ones they don't finish. They are answering with 100% accuracy.

Science - Matter

Social Studies - Reading a Map

Important Reminders:

  • The spelling lists for the year are in your students red folder behind the behavior chart.

  • Parent conference email will be coming out soon

  • Check grades online for your students most recent grade.  If you don’t know how to do that, please send me an email.
