Welcome to Kindergarten!

Welcome Parents!

My name is Mrs. Stephanie Howard and I am delighted to be your child's Kindergarten teacher!
I want you to feel confident in knowing that your child is with me for most of their day. I believe in making learning fun, meaningful and memorable.  It is my goal to motivate, challenge and inspire each child that comes into my classroom.

I graduated from the University of Houston in 2002 and began my teaching career in Aldine ISD, where I taught First Grade for 5 years. We moved out here to Tomball to start our family and I joined the Canyon Pointe family in 2008.  This will be my 10th year teaching Kindergarten.  I love kindergarten! It is a unique year with many new experiences...losing a first tooth, learning to tie shoes, learning to read and write and making new friends.

My husband, Casey and I live in Canyon Gates with our 2 beautiful daughters. Sarah is 13 and Samantha is 8. I love spending time with my family and walking our yellow lab, Susie.

I look forward to an amazing year with you and your child.

Hello awesome parents,
Happy SUPER BOWL SUNDAY!  Is your cheese dip ready yet?
Just some reminders of what is going on in the classroom:
This week -
Monday: we will be having bus evacuation drills on campus.  We will sit on a school bus where the bus driver will discuss what to do in case of an emergency.  It will only take about 20 minutes or less. So if your child talks about getting on a bus and jumping out of the back exit, you will know why!
Tuesday - library books are due
Wednesday - take home readers are due
Wednesday, Feb 14th - Valentine's Party 2:30-3:30
Thursday, Feb 15th - Picture Day AND the 100th day of school.  We will have pictures early in the morning.  We are asking that your child BRING their 100th day shirt to school and they can put it on AFTER pictures are taken.
Friday, Feb 16th and Monday, Feb 19th - there will be no school. (Teacher in-service day and President's Day)
If you have any questions, please let me know!
Thank you,
Mrs. Howard

Just a friendly reminder to pack 2 snacks for your child daily. We are out of snack in the classroom.  They are going fast.  Make sure your child knows that they have a snack in their lunch or in their backpack and what their snack is.  Thank you!

No school on Monday. Happy Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
See you on Tuesday with your I can read Binders and library books!
Take Home-reader bags are due back on Wednesday.  Hope you are reading!
Stay warm,
Mrs. Howard

Looking forward to seeing all of my sweet student's faces tomorrow!
We will have library this Thursday so please make sure they pack their library books.  Don't forget to pack a healthy snack or 2 with your child and make sure they have a sweater or jacket!  Thank you, Mrs. Howard

Don't forget about those Library books - due Tuesday.

Also on Tuesday, PTO will have their monthly meeting in the back portable beginning at 10:00 if you are interested.

Tuesday evening you are invited to attend LOVE & LOGIC Presentation by Kate Turner at Tomball Memorial High School from 6:00-8:00.

Your student may be talking about our new Buddy Benches.  We appreciate the generous donation to have two Buddy Benches installed - one on the front and one on the back playground. The Buddy Bench is a simple idea to eliminate loneliness and foster friendship on the playground.  This is just one way our students can continue to spread the message of inclusion and kindness.

WOW! Thank you parents for all of the snacks!  Their little tummies will be satisfied for months!
Don't forget, 50's Day on Thursday - dress in 50's fashion!
Mother Goose on Friday - dress in your pj's!
Thank you

Ask your child about Raz Kids!
It's a great reading resource that they LOVE!  Please encourage them to get on this web site at home.  Click on "Kids Log in" then for Teacher: showardaz
Their password is their lunch number.  Happy reading!

Don't forget to pack a snack (or 2) for your child every day!
If you are able to donate individually wrapped snacks like
goldfish, pretzels, or cheese-its, that would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you!

Book Fair!!!!!!!

Don't forget it is Book Fair this week!  We will not have a time to go shop as a whole class, but rather just sending students as they bring money.  The book Fair will be open late at Trunk or Treat on Thursday!  You may also come for lunch and shop with your student!

Parents, I have added a bunch of wonderful resources (educational games)
on my "links" page for your child to practice their math skills and even their phonological awareness!
Check it out!
