Erin Johnson Named New Canyon Pointe Elementary Principal

TOMBALL - Tomball ISD has named Erin Johnson the new Principal of Canyon Pointe Elementary, replacing veteran Principal Barbara Coleman, who announced her retirement at the end of the school year.

Ms. Johnson currently serves Tomball ISD as an Assistant Principal at Rosehill Elementary.

“Canyon Pointe has a long-standing tradition of excellence that I am thrilled to carry on,” Johnson said. “Canyon Pointe is more than a building where learning takes place. It is a home where people live, raise their children, and make memories. I'm just grateful to join the family!”

Prior to joining TISD, Ms. Johnson served in a variety of educational roles in a neighboring district since her start in education. She served as the Special Ed Administrator in Cy-Fair ISD from 2017 to 2020 and prior to that role, she spent 2013 to 2017 as an Elementary Assistant Principal.

She brings relevant experience as an administrator at Rosehill Elementary, which supported the start of the district’s Two-Way Dual Language Academy. Ms. Johnson also has served in roles as an  instructional specialist, math teacher and a professional development writer and presenter during her career.

She earned her BA in Psychology from Vanguard University of Southern California and her MA in Educational Leadership from Prairie View A&M University.

What is it about education that you love so much?
“There is nothing better than watching students achieve goals they never thought they would! Education is all about continuous growth! As a child I loved school so much; my grandmother always said I would be a principal. She said I'd never get out of school. She was right! There's magic that happens in these buildings!”

What can the CPES school community expect of you as their leader?
“The Canyon Pointe community can expect a leader that they know well and see often! Our families can expect consistency, communication, and a smile around every corner. I look forward to getting to know each and every family and individual student!”
