Writing: Students will learn to use dialogue in their paper.  Students will also learn how to write a lead (or beginning) and apply to their small moments paper.

Spelling Pattern: 'ng' and 'nk' blends - wink, sing, sink, king, long, sung, hang, blank, wing, junk, think, bring, stung, rink, blink, honk, song, along, went, left

Math: Students will work with numbers up to 1,200 by comparing numbers (greater than / less than), composing and decomposing numbers.  For example, students will learn that 1,200 can be written as (1) thousand, (2) hundreds, (0) tens, and (0) ones OR it can be written as (12) hundreds. Our place value test will be October 11th.  A review will be sent home before the long weekend.

HAVE a great week!!

Math Facts

We have another timed Math Fact Practice coming up! Students are given 2 minutes to answer 24 facts. At this time these practices are not for a grade, but starting the 2nd 9 weeks, they will be graded. I will be sending home, in your students Wednesday folder, their first Math Fact Practice. They are graded, but I did not put them into the grade book. Also, once the 2 minutes is up, the students are required to put down their pencils. So everything in pencil they did in that 2 minutes, if it is crayon, I let them finish the sheet, for practice, but wanted you to see what they accomplished in the 2 minutes.

Practice, Practice, Practice those facts!!!

P.E for the week

We will be going to P.E. Tuesday, Thursday and Friday of this week. Please make sure your child has the appropriate foot wear. Thank you so much!

Water

Please try and send your child with a water bottle to school every day! We have 2 recesses and seeing as we live in Houston it is extremely hot most of the year. It becomes a distraction when I have most of the class needing water breaks frequently throughout the day.

Snack

Seeing as we have a late lunch (12:40 - 1:00) please send your child with a bigger morning snack. I am not opposed to sending two snacks, as long as they are healthy and not messy. Please discourage your child to take snacks from their lunch boxes.
